Joanna trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
She will next be seen in 'Playing for Time' at Salisbury Playhouse. Her most recent theatre credits include: Ruth in Blithe Spirit (Peter Hall Company, Savoy theatre) Miss Gossage The Happiest Days of your Life (Royal Exchange Manchester), Maggie Hobson in Hobson's Choice (Royal Exchange Manchester) and Eliza Doolittle in My Fair lady (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane) for which she won
a coveted Laurence Olivier award for Best Acress in a musical.
Jane Smart (a role which she originated) in The
Witches of Eastwick
(Theatre Royal, Drury Lane and later The Prince of Wales, Coventry Street)
for which she was nominated Best Acress in a musical (Laurence Olivier
awards 2001), Bertrande in Martin Guerre (National Tour) and
Sarah Stone in No Way To Treat A Lady (Arts Theatre).
Her
work for the Royal National Theatre includes: Julie Jordan in Carousel
for which she won an Olivier Award for Best Acress in a Musical, Sarah
Brown in Guys and Dolls, for which she was nominated for an
Olivier Best Actress award, Ann Egerman in A Little Night Music and
the tour of Oh What A Lovely War. Other London Credits include:
recreating her roel as Julie in Carousel (Shafetsbury Theatre),
Sally in Me and My Girl (Adelphi Theatre), Sybil Vane in The
Portrait of Dorian Gray (Lyric Hammersmith) and Hey, Mr. Producer!
(Lyceum).
Joanna
has also worked in Repertory Theatres around the UK including; Liverpool,
Blackpool, Worcester and Chichester where her season included: Ann Page
in The Merry Wives of Windsor, Rosie in My Mother Said
I Never Should and Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz.
Joanna's
TV credits are: The Brian Conley Show, Sean' Show,
Casualty, Jeeves and Wooster, West Two, Strike
Command and Wing and a Prayer.
